capture the dimension of pregnancy no photo can
Belly casting is a means of preserving the beauty of the expectant belly. A plaster mold is created by applying damp strips of a plaster gauze material over the mother's pregnant belly and upper torso. The mother's skin is protected with plastic wrap before the plaster is applied. As the strips of material are layered upon one another, a shell begins to form. After about 20 minutes of drying time the shell is hard enough to remove. A 3D replica of the mom's expectant belly has been created! The entire casting process takes approximately one hour to complete. Month 9 Design spends additional time afterward reinforcing the sculpture and preparing its surface for painting or other decoration.
